The Upcoming 20th Webby Awards

They have even been regarded as the “Oscars of the Internet”. Also, the Webbys can provide ideas about how to give users an awesome website experience.
What are the Webby Awards?
The Webbys have been an annual event since 1996, back in the early stages of the internet. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS) makes up the main portion of judges. The members of International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences include over 1,000 major figures among entertainment, business, and online communities. The Academy chooses nominees within five media categories: websites, advertising and media, online film and video, mobile sites and apps, and social. These categories contain many sub-categories; this ensures recognition for many different online presences. In addition to that, Special Achievement awards are also given out to famous web figures.
The IADAS chooses one of the winners for each sub-category; the public chooses the other winners. Millions of people around the world cast votes for Webby People’s Voice Awards. This year’s nominees include:
- Orange is the New Black Season 3 under Social Media Campaigns
- Nike Digital Retail Experience under Best User Experience
- The New Yorker under Best Podcast
- Tumblr under Best Social Media Website
